Nordhoff 75, Calabasas 54--Andy Flores scored 26 of his 33 points in the first half and the Rangers (14-2, 2-0) jumped out to an early lead and didn’t trail at Nordhoff.

In other games:

Monroe 70, Grant 67--Gilbert Arenas scored 33 points against the Vikings’ half-court trap, but could not convert in the final 15 seconds of a Valley Pac-8 Conference loss at Monroe.

Arenas, who made only two three-point baskets for No. 4-ranked Grant (13-4, 1-1), missed from outside with 15 seconds remaining and Eric Serna fired an outlet pass to Bo Brooks, who made an easy layup for Monroe’s final points with three seconds remaining.

Robert Palafox had 23 points, seven assists and six steals for the Vikings (7-10, 1-1), making seven of 10 shots. Jose Sanchez contributed 19 points to the victory, including five three-point baskets.

Sylmar 90, Reseda 40--Dallas Townsend scored six of his eight points in the third quarter and had 13 of his 18 rebounds in the second half to help the No. 3-ranked Spartans (14-4, 1-1) pull away in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Sylmar.

Sylmar Coach Bort Escoto missed the game in accordance with City Section rules after being ejected from the Spartans’ game Wednesday against Poly.

Cleveland 71, Birmingham 50--Kent Dennis had 19 points and 10 rebounds for the No. 7-ranked Cavaliers (12-4, 2-0), who had five technical fouls, in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Birmingham.

Kennedy 63, Granada Hills 55--Nana Gebwonyo had 24 points and 19 rebounds for the Golden Cougars (10-5, 2-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Kennedy.

Chaminade 48, St. Francis 25--Sophomore forward Scott Borchart scored 15 points and the No. 6-ranked Eagles (13-3, 3-1) had 15 steals in a Mission League victory over St. Francis (11-7, 1-4) at Chaminade.

Harvard-Westlake 85, Notre Dame 53--Notre Dame scored the first two points and Harvard-Westlake (10-9, 3-2) scored the next 17 in a Mission League game at Harvard-Westlake.

The Wolverines, led by Russell Lakey’s 15 points, eight rebounds and seven steals, outrebounded Notre Dame, 65-31.

Crescenta Valley 67, Glendale 51--Brian Ostro scored 20 points to lead host Crescenta Valley (15-4, 2-1), which dedicated the Pacific League victory to longtime booster Don Frost.

Frost, who had attended more than 250 Crescenta Valley games since 1968, died of cancer Thursday.

St. Bonaventure 59, Oak Park 49--Junior guard Michael Spargo scored six of his 12 points in overtime to help the host Seraphs (12-4, 1-1) outscore Oak Park in overtime, 12-2, in a Tri-Valley League game at St. Bonaventure.

Newbury Park 56, Westlake 53--Brian Bobik scored a basket and hit a free throw in the last 12 seconds as visiting Newbury Park won a Marmonte League game in overtime.

Jake DeGennaro hit a three-point shot with 16 seconds left for Westlake (8-10, 1-3) to tie the score, 53-53.
