Michael P. Berry was promoted Monday from vice president of food at Disneyland to senior vice president of the park, with day-to-day oversight of rides, stores, guest service, costumes and security as well as restaurants and food carts.

Berry has worked at Marriott Corp., Service America Corp. and the University of California. He joined Disneyland in 1996 from Harvard University, where he directed dining services.

Park officials said Disneyland’s restaurants have set records for sales and guest compliments under Berry, who led menu and design changes at several locations and opened Redd Rocket’s Pizza Port in the park’s Tomorrowland section. Berry also headed food planning for Disney’s California Adventure, a second Anaheim theme park that will open in 2001.
