Part of the roof at Olympic Stadium caved in Monday as some workers were setting up for an auto show, sending an avalanche of snow tumbling down and injuring five people.

About 200 workers were inside the stadium when one of the 63 panels on the latest edition of the roof--made of fiberglass with Teflon coating--gave way.

“If I had been at my booth, I would be dead.” said one worker. “It was bloody scary.”

It was the latest chapter in the difficult history of the stadium, built for the 1976 Summer Olympics and home to the Montreal Expos.

In previous incidents, chunks of outer wall of the stadium crashed to the ground but no one was injured.
