Children in the Atwood area of the city have a better place to play thanks to the completion of the Los Ninos Park Playground Project. The $111,597 renovation, which began last year at the Parque de los Ninos, 1701 Atwood Ave., replaced old playground equipment with a large climbing structure, added more swings and put in rubber surfacing to improve access for disabled children, said Stephen Pischel, the city’s recreation and human services director. Most of the playground equipment the project replaced dated from the early 1970s, he said.
