Gore Visits Victims of Killer Tornado

When Vice President Al Gore asked an injured teenager how her family fared when a tornado demolished their home, he was stunned by her reply. The tornado was part of a storm system that walloped parts of western and central Tennessee. Eight people were killed and at least 100 injured. About 1,900 homes and businesses were damaged or destroyed, authorities said. Gore announced a dozen counties have been declared federal disaster areas.
