The City Council this week agreed to let staff obtain working drawings for an 8,000-square-foot skate park in Arovista Park--the city’s first. “This gives the kids a chance to have a place of their own,” Councilman Roy Moore said.
Fullerton-based architectural firm Purkiss Rose-RSI will be drafting the plans; the city hopes to open the park for skateboarders, roller-skaters and roller-bladers toward the end of summer, project coordinator Karen Haluza said. The park will include shapes that resemble a pyramid, spine and pipe cut in half for skaters to jump and skate on.
