Gadzuric Doubtful for Louisville Game

Share

Starting center Dan Gadzuric accompanied the Bruins to Louisville on Thursday, a day earlier than usual for a Saturday game to compensate for the 10 a.m. PST tipoff, but is listed as doubtful because of a sprained right ankle suffered against USC.

Gadzuric, who has been bothered by tendinitis in both knees all season, was hurt while trying to chase down Trojan Brian Scalabrine with about six minutes left Wednesday at the Sports Arena.

Gadzuric limped to the bench and had ice on the ankle in the locker room after the game, but the Bruins wanted to wait to see how the joint would stiffen or swell before deciding his status for the game against No. 24 Louisville. Thursday, he was in a walking boot.

Guard Earl Watson, meanwhile, found out Wednesday that playing with four stitches in his right (shooting) hand is as difficult as he had expected--or feared.

“It was terrible,” he said of dealing with the deep cut between the middle and ring fingers. “I was real tentative going through screens. I knew I couldn’t shoot, so I didn’t shoot as much as I normally do.”

Watson took eight shots, about three fewer than usual.

He also fouled out with 6:38 to play.

Coming up: Saturday at Louisville, Thursday at Washington State.
