Share

The Ventura County chapter of the American Red Cross will offer training next month for people who want to volunteer to aid victims of disasters, including wildfires, floods and earthquakes.

Volunteers must first complete a training course, called “Introduction to Disaster Services,” that will be offered from 8 a.m. to noon Feb. 6 at the chapter’s Simi Valley office. The class will also be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Feb. 17 in the Ventura office.

The class covers basic disaster information, the role of the Red Cross and how community response efforts work.

Volunteers can learn the functions and operations of a Red Cross disaster shelter at a workshop from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 20 in Ventura.

For registration information, call the Red Cross in Ventura at 339-2234 or in Simi Valley at 582-8630.
