Northridge Cools Off at Weber State, 74-63

Cal State Northridge could not overcome a 34% first-half shooting performance and lost to Weber State, 74-63, in a Big Sky Conference women’s basketball game on Saturday night at Ogden, Utah.

Northridge made 10 of 29 shots in the first half and 22 of 54 in the game.

Edniesha Curry scored 19 points for the Matadors (12-6, 6-2 in Big Sky play).

Shelley Olson and Sarah Sonveau each had 12 points for Weber State (7-10, 6-2) and Joan Lagford scored 11.

Brianna Kanongata’a, who played at Ventura College, scored eight points for Weber State.

In another women’s game:

Valley 66, Canyons 53--Chante Gifford had 24 points and 10 assists for the Monarchs in a Western State Conference South Division victory at Valley.

Carrie Miller had 11 points and 13 rebounds for Valley (14-10, 1-2).

Canyons is 17-6, 1-1.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

The Master’s 85, UC Santa Cruz 44--Joey Penberthy scored 23 points and Reggie McFerren had 21 for the Mustangs in a nonconference game at Master’s.

Penberthy made three of four three-point shots and 10 of 14 shots overall.

Joolin Julmist had 17 rebounds for Master’s (10-11).

Michael Halligan scored 16 points for Santa Cruz (3-15).

Antelope Valley 85, Barstow 83--Le’Tre Kelly had 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Marauders (10-14, 1-0), who won a Foothill Conference Northern Division game in overtime at Antelope Valley.
