ORANGE COUNTY EARNINGS

WFS Financial Inc.: The Irvine company reported net income of $430,000, or 2 cents a share, down from the $6.4 million, or 25 cents a share, posted for the 1997 fourth quarter. Revenue declined 14% to $46 million from $53.3 million. For the year, the company recorded a net loss of $16.6 million, or 64 cents a share, contrasted with net income of $31.3 million, or $1.22 a share, for the previous year. The 1998 figure includes $15 million in pretax restructuring charges. Revenue fell 28% to $166.5 million from $229.8 million.
