SCC’s Home Winning Streak Continues

Southern California College rolled to its 29th consecutive home victory as the Vanguards defeated Fresno Pacific, 67-57, in a Golden State Athletic Conference women’s basketball game Tuesday at SCC.

Aimee Pina made four three-pointers and scored 20 points for SCC, which improved to 16-6, 4-1.

In another conference game:

Concordia 74, Westmont 44--Concordia outscored Westmont, 38-12, over the last 18 minutes. Jaime Gast had 21 points, seven rebounds and five assists to lead visiting Concordia (10-8, 3-2).

In Golden State Athletic Conference men’s basketball:

Fresno Pacific 61, Southern California College 55--Jason Simmons had 26 points and nine rebounds for SCC (6-17, 0-5), which outscored visiting Fresno Pacific by 10 in the second half, but couldn’t make up a 16-point deficit.

In a nonconference game:

UC San Diego 87, Chapman 77--Derek Mitchell scored 15 points and Matt Poutsma had 14 for Chapman (12-7). Mike Wall had 21 points and Tyler Garratt 20 for UC San Diego (18-2), which pulled away in the second half.

In nonconference men’s volleyball:

UC Irvine 3, Princeton 0--Mike Rupp had 10 kills and Corey Hinkle had 32 assists to lead UC Irvine to a speedy 15-3, 15-8, 15-5 victory. It was the second straight victory for the Anteaters (2-3, 1-2).
