The full moon this Sunday will be the second full moon of the month and, according to modern tradition, is called a “blue moon.” The moon’s monthly cycle around the Earth is shorter than most months, and a “blue moon” occurs roughly once every three years. The next, however, is on March 31. The full moon this month is partially eclipsed before sunrise, but the eclipse is not visible from California.
