The city plans to spend $6,000 for new microphones at City Hall because the current equipment is outdated and does not accurately pick up voices from all directions, City Manager Daniel E. Keen said. Currently, if speakers turn their heads, their words may not be picked up by the microphone and thus are not captured on the record for the person taking minutes, Keen said. The City Council approved the purchase of the new omnidirectional microphones at a recent meeting.
