Ventura resident Delores “Dee” Jean Tabor-King died Wednesday at UCLA Medical Center following a brief illness. She was 58.

Tabor-King was born Jan. 20, 1941, in Butler, Pa. She had been a Ventura resident for the past 30 years.

For the last 28 years, Tabor-King worked for the Ventura County Community College District, and at the time of her death she was the registrar at Oxnard College.

Her family said she was an avid supporter of the Geo Bowl at Oxnard College, an annual geography competition for high school students.

Tabor-King is survived by her husband, Carl King of Ventura; two daughters, Kim Tabor of Ventura and Rhonda Tabor of Camarillo; and a granddaughter.

There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura that will be led by Rev. Jim Wells.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Ventura County Rescue Mission in Oxnard.
