Holdsclaw Leads Mystics’ Victory
Chamique Holdsclaw, the WNBA’s top draft choice, scored 11 of the Washington Mystics’ last 19 points in a 68-63 victory over the Charlotte Sting on Wednesday at Charlotte, N.C.
“She’s used to having the ball in her hands, and we’re going to get it to her,” Washington Coach Nancy Darsch said after Holdsclaw finished with 21 points and a season-high 14 rebounds and Washington won for the first time in six games.
Charlotte’s Dawn Staley had 22 points and added six assists.
Houston 78, Utah 68--Sheryl Swoopes scored 29 points as Houston improved its record to 8-1.
Natalie Williams led Utah with 23 points.
