*** Pericos, “Mystic Love,” EMI Latin. Think of this Argentine rock en espan~ol band as the melancholy, introspective cousin of Fabulosos Cadillacs. Both bands share a peculiar love for ska, cinematic instrumentals and the desire to enrich rock with Latin percussion and horns. Among the surprises: an outstanding, string-laden version of a Luis Alberto Spinetta tune, and an acoustic reworking of Curtis Mayfield’s “Keep on Moving.”
