The City Council recently approved a $173,028 project to add a new coat to Harvard Lane. The work involves grinding the edges of the pavement, adding a rubberized chip seal and then a layer of rubberized asphalt, which officials say is twice the strength of normal asphalt.

The project will take about three weeks and is expected to start in either July or August. The street will be closed at various times during the process, assistant city engineer Doug Dancs said.
