* Record vs. Monarchs--2-0.

* Radio--KEZY (1190).

* Update--The Sparks, who have won six in a row, and the Monarchs are tied for second in the Western Conference after Sacramento’s 74-63 victory over Houston Thursday. The Sparks’ winning streak began with a 76-73 victory at Sacramento June 26, and they won the opener June 10 against the Monarchs, 100-78 at the Forum. The Sparks’ challenge is to hold Sacramento center Yolanda Griffith to reasonable numbers. She’s having an MVP-like season, averaging 20 points and 13 rebounds a game. Spark Coach Orlando Woolridge said after his team’s 67-61 victory at Phoenix Wednesday that he’d alter his starting lineup tonight, promoting guard Gordana Grubin to the point, with Penny Toler starting at two guard. This sends Tamecka Dixon, a starter for most of her three Los Angeles seasons, to the bench. Rookie Ukari Figgs started the season at point, but sprained an ankle at Minnesota July 1 and has sat out the last three games.
