Ventura to Return to Ring as Referee
Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura, who made his name as a professional wrestling bad boy, will return to the ring without his feather boa to guest-referee at the World Wrestling Federation’s “SummerSlam,” he said in Minneapolis. For his efforts in the sold-out, $29.95 pay-per-view event on Aug. 22, Ventura said he would receive $100,000, half of which will go to the new Jade Foundation for disadvantaged children. The other half will go to a scholarship endowment at his alma mater, Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis. He hopes to give out a $5,000 scholarship annually. He later said the Make-A-Wish foundation likely would also receive a donation.
