PLACENTIA
After listening to residents plead for a traffic light at Melody Lane and Chapman Avenue for several years, the City Council Tuesday voted unanimously to install the signal.
Residents have cited several fatalities there over the years in asking for the signal.
The last accident at the intersection occurred last New Year’s Eve, when a car struck and killed a man as he crossed Chapman Avenue. Two other pedestrians were killed at the intersection in the past five years, city officials said.
Public works director Chris Becker said although the traffic signal will be installed, some additional traffic control measures may be taken on Sunset Drive, depending on the residents’ consensus.
