SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO
The City Council surprised many this week by approving, on a 3-to-2 vote, a rezoning of property at Rancho Viejo and Village roads to make way for a 25-unit residential development. The project, which originally called for 28 units, underwent considerable redesigns after being twice rejected by the City Council. At a joint work session by the City Council and Planning Commission last month, it was determined that the potential traffic and noise levels produced by the development would be unacceptable. But residents on Tuesday came out in support of the project, presenting a 35-signature petition in favor of it. Information: (949) 493-1171.
