Ceradyne Inc.: The Costa Mesa manufacturer of technical ceramics reported net income of $401,000, or 5 cents a share, for the second quarter, a gain of 23% from the $326,000, or 4 cents a share, for the year-ago period. Sales rose 16% to $7.3 million from $6.3 million.
