The Police Department initiated two new park ranger positions last week. The part-time civilian rangers patrol the Edison right of way and the Central Park area by foot and bike. “It’s a neat program,” said Capt. Edward Ethell. “So far they’ve been really well received. It’s too early to say if they’ll reduce crime, but the visibility is there.” The positions are designed to help the Police Department increase safety and to clamp down on graffiti.
