ORANGE COUNTY EARNINGS

Micro Therapeutics Inc.: The Irvine medical devices company lost $4.6 million, or 64 cents a share, in the second quarter, compared with a net loss of $2.2 million, or 34 cents a share, for the 1998 second quarter. The 1999 figure included a one-time charge of $1.7 million related to Abbott Laboratories converting debt into 962,628 shares of MTI common stock. Sales rose 10%, to $1.1 million.
