More than a thousand children packed the Willowbrook Magic Johnson Recreation Center on Friday to attend the 14th annual “Midsummer Night’s Magic Weekend.”

Among other things, children got to eat all the ice cream and cotton candy they wanted for free, said Lisa Meyers, spokeswoman for the Magic Johnson Foundation.

Some even got to rub shoulders or share a slide with the businessman and former Laker basketball star.
