Port Hueneme Teen Dies, 2 Hurt in Crash

In this city’s second single-vehicle fatal accident in as many days, a Port Hueneme teenager was killed when his car ran off the road and hit a tree on Gonzales Road, Oxnard police said Wednesday.

Douglas Anthony Clark, 18, was driving a 1964 sedan at 60 mph on Gonzales west of Patricia Street when he lost control and swerved off the road, authorities said.

Clark was killed instantly.

Two passengers were taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard.

Jorge Alberto Valenzuela, 18, of Port Hueneme remained in stable condition with a concussion and fractured right wrist, officials said.

An unidentified 17-year-old male from Port Hueneme was also in stable condition.

Clark was wearing his seat belt, authorities said.

There was no indication that any other vehicles were involved, Oxnard police said, and an investigation is continuing.

In Tuesday’s accident, Bernard John Loughman Jr, 61, of Ventura swerved off the road and hit a tree on Oxnard Boulevard. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
