President of Sizzler International Resigns

Christopher R. Thomas is resigning as president of Sizzler USA, a division of Culver City-based Sizzler International Inc. Sizzler President and Chief Executive Charles Boppell said Thomas has agreed to remain at the company during a search for a new leader of the division.

“Chris Thomas has made many significant contributions to Sizzler, most recently in leading the company’s successful financial reorganization and the successful turnaround of the company’s domestic operations. We understand his desire to move on to new major challenges,” Boppell said. Thomas had no comment.

Sizzler operates or franchises more than 300 Sizzler restaurants worldwide and 100 KFC restaurants in Australia.

The Sports Club Co. said it appointed company President John M. Gibbons chief executive of the Los Angeles-based company, which operates the Sports Club and Spectrum Club fitness centers. Gibbons will succeed founder and current CEO D. Michael Talla, the company’s largest shareholder.

Talla will continue to be involved with the company as chairman. He said Gibbons’ promotion to CEO “will free me to focus on new club development and strategic planning.”

Gibbons has been president and chief operating officer since July 1995. He joined the company in 1994 as chief financial officer.

Long Beach-based Molina Medical Centers has named David W. Erickson vice president and chief information officer. Erickson, a former CIO at United Healthcare Corp., will direct Molina’s information technology systems as well as define its information technology strategies and operating plans.

Les Ireland, a 12-year veteran of Black & Decker Corp., has been appointed president of Price Pfister, a Pacoima-based division of Black & Decker that manufactures residential and commercial faucets and shower products. Ireland had been vice president of sales at Price Pfister since November 1998. Black & Decker is based in Towson, Md.

KIT Manufacturing Co., a Long Beach-based manufacturer of recreational vehicles and prefabricated housing, has named Harold Breach president and general manager. He previously was head of KIT’s manufactured-housing unit.

Tom Unthank has been named vice president of franchise services for PIP Printing, the Agoura Hills-based printing services company.
