eSynch Sells SoftKat After Seven Months

Tustin-based eSynch Corp. has sold its financially troubled subsidiary SoftKat Inc., just seven months after acquiring the firm.

eSynch said Wednesday that it sold the software publisher and distributor to the British firm Kilburn Consultants Ltd. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

eSynch officials were not available to elaborate on why the company sold SoftKat so soon after having purchased it. Kilburn specializes in software acquisitions, eSynch said.

At least one company, Seattle-based Diamar Interactive Corp., has obtained court-ordered attachments on the assets of Mountain View-based SoftKat.

SoftKat owes Diamar $45,000 for multimedia software it bought and resold, Diamar Chief Executive David Roberts said.

In a prepared statement, eSynch said SoftKat’s model of distributing software through traditional means “could not be economically converted to one that emphasizes electronic distribution over traditional physical goods distribution.”
