Butterflies Migrate Farther North as Earth Warms, Report Says

At least 57 species of butterfly in Europe and North Africa are migrating farther north in the summer, a sign that global warming is taking place, Santa Barbara researchers report in today’s issue of the journal Nature. Camille Parmesan and her colleagues at the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis at UC Santa Barbara report that the butterflies are spending summers up to hundreds of miles north of their traditional home areas.
