Murdoch Pact Excludes Sales Clause

Share

The divorce pact between mogul Rupert Murdoch and his ex-wife, Anna, won’t include a clause she had been seeking giving her a say if he ever decides to sell News Corp., his giant media conglomerate.

Anna Murdoch had been pushing for that right in the couple’s divorce negotiations and was believed to have gotten it when the two finally dissolved their marriage earlier this week in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

But those close to each party say she does not have that right under the settlement.

Any such clause would probably be moot anyway since Murdoch has made it clear that he intends to pass control of the company to their children.

The Murdochs have three children--Lachlan, Elisabeth and James--who work for the company. Murdoch also has a daughter, Prudence, from a previous marriage who is not involved in the business.

Details of the Murdochs’ divorce, which came after 32 years of marriage, will remain private under a confidentiality clause.
