The San Fernando City Council is offering up to $10,000 for information on the whereabouts of a woman missing since Mother’s Day.

Police asked the City Council to authorize the reward to help find Dora Marie Silva, said San Fernando Police Lt. Dan Peavy.

“We’re hoping someone will be more willing to cooperate and come forward with information,” he said.

Silva, 32, a married mother of four children, was last seen leaving her San Fernando home late in the evening May 8, Peavy said.

“She has not contacted her extensive network of family and friends and co-workers, and that makes it very concerning,” Peavy said.

The reward may also lead police to information on possible foul play, he said.

“We have to consider the possibility she is a victim of a crime,” he said.

Silva’s van was recovered May 14 in Mission Hills, two miles from her home. The dark blue and gray Chevrolet Astro was found on Marklein Avenue near San Fernando Mission Boulevard and the San Diego Freeway. A woman recognized the van from a newspaper story, police said.

Police officers, sheriff’s deputies and volunteers searched El Cariso Regional Park in Sylmar on May 22 but found no clues.

Silva is described as Latina, 5 feet 3 inches, 120 pounds, with medium-length brown hair, brown eyes and a mole on her left cheek.

Anyone with information should call Det. Lance Steaman at (818) 898-1286 or (818) 898-1267.
