Woman Dies After Being Thrown From Van on I-5
A 72-year-old woman from Los Angeles was killed Sunday night after she and two other people were thrown from a van on the Golden State Freeway, according to California Highway Patrol officers.
The van skidded across the southbound lanes of the highway and struck an embankment near California 138 about 8:45 p.m., said Officer Karen Faciane, a spokeswoman for the CHP.
The driver and two passengers were thrown from the vehicle. The passenger who died was declared dead at the scene just after 9 p.m. Her name is being withheld pending notification of her family, Los Angeles County coroner’s officials said.
The driver and the four other passengers were taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.
