Sandpiper Networks in Thousand Oaks has appointed Scott Darling as vice president of business development and professional services.

Darling will manage the new professional-services organization at Sandpiper, as well as oversee alliance programs and business development activities.

He comes to Sandpiper from MCI/Systemhouse, where he was the managing director for the Worldwide Consumer Products and Retail and Financial Services groups. In that role, he led a team that focused heavily on electronic commerce and Web Enablement applications.

Darling will work to expand alliances already formed by Sandpiper. In April, Sandpiper launched an alliance to improve the delivery of Web content around the world.

Sandpiper’s initial service offering, Footprint, was launched in September 1998. Sandpiper is working with a variety of Web publishers--including NBC Interactive, Intuit, WebRadio.com, the Los Angeles Times, E! Online and University Netcasting--in the online entertainment/news, e-business and high-technology markets.
