The City Council will consider increasing the city’s loan to the Lake Forest Redevelopment Agency by $679,900 at tonight’s council meeting.

The increase would bring the redevelopment agency’s total debt to the city to $2.6 million. The money will be used mainly for public outreach programs and planning for the El Toro Road redevelopment project.

Mayor Peter Herzog said the council also will pay tribute to an Orange County sheriff’s deputy shot and killed Saturday while on patrol. The council will salute Deputy Brad Riches with a moment of silence and will adjourn in his honor. Herzog said that while words are insufficient to address the tragedy, the council wanted to do something to recognize the slain deputy.
