Luggage Delivery Is Their Bag

For those who are tired of hauling heavy bags to and from the airport only to have them lost in transit, TraveLite Enterprises may have a solution.
With a little planning and a single phone call, travelers can circumvent the airlines and arrange for bags to be picked up from their homes and delivered to their destinations with TraveLite’s “virtual bellhop”--a door-to-door luggage service.
“Everyone complains about the inconvenience and delays of carrying their luggage, and the problem has gotten even worse with the carry-on crackdown recently announced by the airlines,” said William Cippola, managing partner of TraveLite.
Cippola brainstormed the idea while working for a package shipment firm. As president, he frequently took advantage of the company’s expertise and arranged for his bags to be flown in advance by packing one day early.
TraveLite debuted in 1998 by servicing a single route (Chicago-Orlando, Fla.). It now serves more than 150 U.S. cities.
Prices begin at $65, with economy, second-day air and next-day air delivery options.
