An asphalt repaving project at Olinda Elementary School that was approved by school officials Monday night might wipe out a map of the United States painted by a Boy Scout. The Brea Olinda school board approved the $39,698 resurfacing less than two hours after it honored Ryan Miller for his Eagle Scout project. “If his map gets paved over, I will personally go there myself and help him repaint it,” said school board President Kenneth A. Kegel. The board also approved asphalt resurfacing at Brea Junior High, Fanning Elementary and Brea Olinda High schools.
