HOW THEY MATCH UP

* Season series--Did not meet.

* Outlook--Even giving the Knicks credit for their miraculous playoff run, it’s hard to see how they can take it any further. The Spurs have two of the game’s top three centers in David Robinson and Tim Duncan. The Knicks don’t even have their own center, Patrick Ewing. How does that Duncan-Chris Dudley matchup strike you?

Without Ewing, the Knicks posted up 6-foot-5 Larry Johnson as their No. 1 option, but that doesn’t look so good now, either. Johnson’s right knee is so badly sprained he hasn’t practiced since suffering the injury Friday and his availability will be decided at game time. Even if he plays, he won’t be 100% and he wasn’t an explosive jumper when he was 100%.

The Spurs, meanwhile, are 42-6 since opening the season 6-8, including an 11-1 run in the playoffs in which they swept the Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers--either of whom would be favored over the Knicks if they were here.

* Prediction--Spurs, 4-0.
