GOLDEN, Colo. — A man who allegedly introduced the two Columbine High School killers to a man who sold them a semiautomatic gun has been arrested, authorities said Thursday.
Philip Duran, 22, is accused of providing a gun to a minor, a charge that carries a maximum sentence of six years.
He is also accused of possessing a dangerous or illegal weapon, which carries a term of up to three years in prison.
Eric Harris, 18, and Dylan Klebold, 17, stormed Columbine High in Littleton, Colo., on April 20, hurling handmade explosives and blasting away with four guns. They killed 12 students and a teacher and wounded 23 students before committing suicide.
Harris and Klebold used a semiautomatic Intratec TEC-DC9 that was purchased from Mark Manes, 22, in February, and three other guns that had been legally purchased by Klebold’s girlfriend, investigators said.
Duran worked with Harris and Klebold at a pizza parlor, and authorities said he is suspected of putting the two in contact with Manes at a gun show in January.
Duran allegedly delivered part of the students’ payment for the TEC-DC9 and collected $125 for helping them.
Manes is also charged with providing a weapon to a minor. His attorney has said Manes did not know why the students wanted the gun.
