Santa Ana’s Digital Hires Producers

* Frank Moldstad has joined Digital Media Online in Santa Ana as executive producer. He was previously editor in chief of DCC Magazine, PC Graphics & Video, Video Store and other print publications. In addition, John Virata joined the company as producer for Digital Producer Magazine. He formerly held the positions of managing editor of DCC Magazine and Digital Studio Magazine and was on the staff of NewTekniques. He began his career in professional publishing at Micro Publishing, where he assisted in the launch of Digital Imaging Magazine.

* Robert A. Beilin has been appointed senior vice president, North America, for Australia-New Zealand Direct Line in Santa Ana. Beilin has more than 28 years’ experience in the transportation industry, the last seven at Australia-New Zealand Direct Line.

* Larry Asselin has joined AltaVista Co.’s Shopping.com e-commerce division in Irvine as vice president of merchandising and customer care. Asselin most recently served as senior vice president for Petco, a retail pet products chain. He has also held senior management positions with Oshman’s Sporting Goods and Foley’s Department Store. In addition, Mark Steinberg was named director of merchandising for computer and office products. Steinberg comes to Shopping.com from CompUSA, where he most recently served as divisional merchandise manager of e-commerce. He has also held merchandising and buying positions at CompUSA, Home Quarters Warehouse Inc., Office Warehouse and Roses Stores.

* Meribeth Missico has been appointed manager for the Ladera Ranch Community Gallery, a home-shopper information center for the master-planned community developed by Rancho Mission Viejo LLC. She was previously wine buyer and sales manager for Dome, a chain of four liquor stores. From 1995 to 1997, Missico was convention sales manager for the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center.

* Bob Comoglio has joined RiechesBaird, an Irvine advertising and public relations agency, as senior art director. He had been senior art director and copywriter for the Brainyard in Costa Mesa and before that, art director and copywriter for GT Bicycles Inc. in Santa Ana.

* John Sawicki has been named vice president of major accounts for New Horizons Computer Learning Centers Inc. in Santa Ana. He was previously senior vice president of sales and marketing of First Data Corp. In addition, Chuck Lennon was appointed vice president of marketing and Tim Kleczka, vice president of the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. Lennon was formerly vice president of marketing for Sir Speedy Inc. Kleczka joined New Horizons in 1994 as vice president of sales and marketing in Santa Ana, and in 1997 became general manager of the New Horizons Computer Learning Center in Auckland, New Zealand. Most recently, he was the director of franchise support for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

* Jill Lockhart has been appointed to head of sales and merchandising for R. Girls, the women’s division of Rusty Apparel in Irvine. Kristen Fleet joined the men’s design team as head of merchandising. Lockhart had been in management and sales at Rusty for more than four years. Fleet had been head merchandiser for Rusty Australia.

* Michael Rupard has been selected to head the new Southern California division of Perlman Architects Inc. in Irvine. He was formerly with Bassenian/Lagoni Architects.
