Summer of Family, Stunt Shows at Knott’s

Share

After introducing two major attractions in less than a year--Supreme Scream in May 1998 and GhostRider in November--Knott’s Berry Farm will be focusing most of its attention over the next year on Soak City U.S.A., a water park scheduled to open in the summer of 2000.

For now, Knott’s is offering its usual seasonal fare of family-friendly shows and activities packaged as “Snoopy’s Extremely Cool Summer.”

“Snoopy’s America on Ice,” a patriotic ice parade tracing the history of American music from folk and country to gospel, jazz, rock, rap and disco, has taken center stage in the Good Time Theatre.

Daredevil in-line skaters, skateboard aces and BMX bike athletes perform gravity-defying feats in “Extreme Wheels Totally Live!” at the Pacific Pavilion, and Knott’s professional stunt team presents “Calamity at Calico,” a slapstick musical “stuntravaganza” in the park’s Calico Square.

For the little ones, there’s the Camp Snoopy Summer Sidewalk Theatre, in which Lucy, Linus and Charlie Brown perform in original musical productions.

And on Fourth of July weekend, the park will bring back its Revolutionary War Encampment, with living history displays, historical speeches, battle reenactments, crafts, food and traditional music in and around the park’s replica of Philadelphia’s Independence Hall.
