Mary Ann Wrobel; Retired Aircraft Worker

Mary Ann Barbara Wrobel, a retired Douglas Aircraft worker, died June 16. She was 70.

Wrobel was born in Browerville, Minn., on Dec. 6, 1928, and lived on the family’s farm with her five sisters and three brothers. After graduating from Browerville High School, she moved to California.

From 1953 until the late 1960s, she worked for Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica. At 52, she retired and moved to Ventura.

Her niece, Kathryn Pierce, said Wrobel loved watching football games and old movies, and playing cards with friends. Pierce also said that at one time her aunt was a dance instructor.

Wrobel was also a longtime member of the Independent Order of Foresters.

In addition to her niece, Wrobel is survived by two sisters, Alice Newman of Sacramento and Bernice Meyer of Oakland, and a brother, Urban Wrobel of Browerville.

A memorial Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ventura, with Father Sarwan Kumar officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home, Ventura.
