Steve Woodard won his third consecutive start as the Milwaukee Brewers completed a three-game sweep of the San Francisco Giants with a 9-6 victory on Wednesday, but his biggest contribution came as a batter.

With two out and a runner at first in the second inning, Russ Ortiz (8-5) walked Jose Valentin and Woodard (8-5). The next four batters singled, with Mark Loretta and Jeff Cirillo each driving in two runs and Ron Belliard also getting an RBI.

“That was the key at-bat of the day,” Brewer Manager Phil Garner said. “When you watch him swing, you wonder if he’s ever going to hit the ball. But he’s a pretty good hitter and he has a good eye.”

The Brewers’ Jeremy Burnitz hit his 18th and 19th home runs, the second time this season he had two in a game.
