Lakers Won’t Train in Hawaii This Fall
Staff and Wire Reports
HONOLULU —
The Lakers said Tuesday they will bypass Hawaii as the site for their training camp this fall, but left open the possibility of holding camp here in the future.
The team was supposed to train and play two exhibition games here last season, but canceled that because of the contract dispute between players and owners.
Team spokesman John Black said the club will train this year in Southern California--Long Beach, Palm Springs or Irvine--but said it’s possible the team will return to Hawaii next year.
The Lakers last held training camp in Hawaii in 1996.
