Radio Unica Network Inc., the nation’s only 24-hour Spanish-language radio network, has acquired exclusive broadcast rights to the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics from Culver City-based Westwood One Inc., both networks said Thursday.

Since going on the air 19 months ago, Miami-based Radio Unica--which bills itself as “the Network First in Sports”--has become one of the country’s most prolific Spanish-language sports broadcasters, with live coverage of the 1998 World Cup, the 1999 NBA playoffs and the Copa America soccer tournament as well as various regional events. It also has exclusive rights to soccer’s Copa Oro in 2000 and 2002 and for qualifying matches for the 2002 World Cup.

Radio Unica can be heard in Los Angeles on flagship station KBLA-AM (1580) and on Simi Valley-based KVCA-AM (670).
