Seriously, He Wants to Give Taylor Credit

Share

Judging from last week’s letters, the Kings may want to consider changing their motto from “Serious hockey. Serious fans” to “Serious hockey. Serious whiners.” Dave Taylor has done an admirable job building a quality, young team on a shoestring budget, no thanks to god-awful attendance by the so-called Kings faithful who prevent the team from turning a profit.

Taylor has brought in Jozef Stumpel, Glen Murray and Luc Robitaille. Is it Taylor’s fault that Stumpel and Murray were besieged with injuries last year? Is it Taylor’s fault that Larry Robinson lost his focus and drive? Is it Taylor’s fault that a prime free-agent signee, Steve Duchesne, forgot the fundamentals of the game?

Now, Taylor’s patience will prove our virtue as Ziggy Palffy evolves into a quiet superstar who thankfully doesn’t have the scoring selfishness of Pavel Bure or the wear and tear of Theo Fleury. Some of the best moves are the ones not made.
