Five architecturally distinctive homes on the Palos Verdes Peninsula and their gardens will be opened to the public July 10-11 to benefit the Palos Verdes Art Center.

The homes will be on display from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Tickets, including lunch, are $30.

The weekend event will begin Friday evening with a party at Villa LaBarba, home of Georgene McKim and James LaBarba.

Villa LaBarba, the tour’s centerpiece, is a 14,700-square-foot Palladian villa atop the bluffs of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. The grounds include 350 Merlot vines in a working vineyard and 800 rose bushes.

The party will feature food from South Bay restaurants as well as California wines, entertainment and a silent auction.

Tickets for the opening party, which also include the weekend home tour, are $125.

During the tour, luncheon treats from local restaurants will be served in the gardens of Villa LaBarba.

All proceeds from the tour benefit the Palos Verdes Art Center, a nonprofit community arts organization.

Since 1931, the Art Center has inspired individuals from the peninsula and the South Bay to celebrate, appreciate and create art through art exhibition, education and outreach programs.
