Yosemite Closes More Cabins at Curry Village

A total of 130 of the 628 guest cabins in Curry Village in Yosemite National Park have now been closed as a precaution after the June 13 rockslide that killed a rock climber, officials said last week. An area under Glacier Point remained off-limits. The closed sections are below the slide area, which “still looks unstable,” said park spokeswoman Christine Cowles.

Susan Arthur, spokeswoman for Yosemite Concession Services, which runs park lodging, said guests with reservations who are unable to be accommodated at Curry Village are being booked into other park cabins or lodges, when available, at the same price, or given a 25% discount on a future stay at Curry.

As of last week, no date had been announced to reopen the 130 cabins. The rest of Curry Village, including the camping store, mountaineering school and cafeteria, remained open. Information: tel. (559) 252-4848.
