Share

Trends in the national and regional real estate markets will be the focus of a daylong Century City gathering today that is expected to draw roughly 800 brokers, developers and investors.

More than 40 speakers, including economists and experts in such real estate subsectors as retail and industrial property, are scheduled to participate in panel discussions on the rise of pension funds and foreign investors as major players in real estate, the impact of rising interest rates and the growing trend among real estate investment trusts to focus on development over acquisition of new properties.

Panelists will also present six-month forecasts on the national and regional economies and discuss the implications for real estate markets. Other topics include identifying the types of buyers expected to acquire real estate in the second half of 1999, the categories of property that will be in demand and projected returns to investors from these ventures.

Since 1985, the Beverly Hills-based Real Estate Conference Group has put on similar gatherings three times a year in an effort to help players in the local real estate industry better understand their market. Today’s event will take place at the Century Plaza hotel.
