Playing in baseball stadiums like Boston’s Fenway Park will soon become a dream come true for amateur athletes in Riverside County.

HNTB Design/Build Inc., an Irvine-based designer of major league baseball diamonds, is building several new sports parks in Mira Loma that replicate historic major-league fields--New York’s Polo Grounds, Pittsburgh’s Forbes Field and Boston’s Fenway.

The parks will be part of the county’s new Big League Dreams Jurupa Valley Sports Park, a $6.4 million playground that in addition to the replica fields will include two softball fields, three soccer fields, several volleyball courts and batting cages. It is scheduled to be completed by December.

HNTB has been involved in designing and constructing several sports facilities, such as Bronco Stadium in Denver, the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis and the Oakland Coliseum. It also worked on renovations to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
