William Ulm of Wheatgrass Drive was honored by the City Council recently for rescuing 7-year-old Jonathan Stubbs, also of Wheatgrass Drive, during an attack by a 100-pound Rottweiler dog. Police Chief Andrew Romero told the council that Ulm heard a boy crying on June 2 about 5 p.m. and raced to his aid. “He prevented the child from further trauma or fatal injuries without concern for his own safety,” Romero said. According to the boy’s mother, Melinda Stubbs, Jonathan underwent two hours of plastic surgery but has recovered well. “I believe it could have been a very different story if it hadn’t been for Mr. Ulm stepping in,” she said. The dog was euthanized at the owner’s request.
